A rental car is the best way to get to/from Queenstown Airport to Wanaka, however remember that we drive on the other side of the road!
BUS
You can bus from Queenstown to Wanaka, however, we suggest hiring a car to get around easily.

Visit our favourite wineries, Mora Wines, Peregrine, Gibbston Valley Winery, Chard Farm or Amisfield.
Tour the Cardrona Distillery and/or visit the Cardrona Hotel Pub.
Enjoy a beer @ Ground Up Brewing, b.effect Brewing Co, or Rhyme X Reason Brewery. One of our favourites in Queenstown is Altitude Brewing.
PLAY
For adventure seekers, you can go skydiving, canyoning, climbing or mountaineering and there are hundreds of kilometres of tracks for hiking or biking. The crystal-clear water of the lakes and rivers are ideal for kayaking, fishing, lake cruises and jet-boating, or to get an aerial perspective of the region take a scenic flight and you can even land on a glacier.

Wanaka is in a handy location to explore the Otago/West Coast regions from. Our favorite Wanaka scenic drives are:
Haast Pass and Blue Pools (2 hours return)
Mt Aspiring National Park (2 hours return)
Kawarau Gorge and Gibbston Valley of Vines (2 hours return)
Lake Hawea (40 minutes return)
Visit Arrowtown (2 hours return)
There are a number of scenic drives around Wanaka, from short trips to all-day excursions. All include excellent stops along the way.
